I love this quote….free minds….the visible evidence of the activity thereof.
In today’s climate I think art is even more important than ever as a recording, a spokesperson, and intellectual and spiritual resource. We must value and protect these inalienable rights with our voices and our works.
Someone recently said to me they only love ‘art with a purpose’.
I smiled and nodded politely.
Doesn’t all art having meaning?
I believe so.
Not all art must shout, and scream it’s message to have one. Nor, do they all have to be tepid, soft impressions of trees and flowers. Both, resonate within our society and each have their place.
Who best can tell the stories?
Artists.
