Art, Selfies & Magritte

The art club, of which i am a member, is having a portrait exhibition in September 2018. I don’t normally do portraits, right? But something resonated in me, and I began to feel like I should create something.

So I am/have been working on a piece.

One of my favorite self portraits is a surreal piece, entitled Son of Man, by Magritte. And, while most people do not recognize his name, they usually are familiar with the bowler hat, and an apple floating in front of his face. It was painted in 1964. And is yet another testament to “the selfie” being far from a new concept.

I’m not posting my work yet, but closer to September you will see how this piece has influenced my entry.

Peace~
