Monday’s Are For Beginning…

And that is just what I’m going to do. I’ve been playing around with an idea in my head for a couple weeks now without time to sit down and spend time with my easel. Now it’s time to get this art party started.

Art News:

I’m going to be working on a bigger canvas, it is 30x40x2 inches. Not really that big, but bigger than average. I know, I talk about canvas size more than average. But, the bigger they are, the more freeing (for me). My early days of painting on walls will always influence my perspective of art size. And, painting on canvas will always feel a little restrictive. I wonder if my artist trading card friends realize just how difficult it is for me to make art on a 2.5×3.5 inch card. it is very hard!

2-Baines Coloring Event went off without hitch, and i thank those who came out to support me and Baines for providing a space for local artists, musicians and writers. Below are pics of some good friends who willing (if not too enthusiastically) agreed to my photo op use.

Upgrading A Journal Cover Project-Valerie Dowdy Art

I bought this cheap (i mean inexpensive) journal on a 50% off sale at Michaels and planned to keep it for my own use. Now, I’m thinking maybe it needs to be a gift. I played around with a project I saw in Pinterest, using materials to create a vintage, looking cover. Very easy. I think it turned out well and recommend giving it a go. It is far from perfectly executed, and upon some reflection, i think that is what makes the vines seem more authentic. There is always room for improvement after the first attempt.

Until next time.
