Holidays, POP-UPS, And Coloring..

My front porch

Whiny alert: I am feeling the same way. Another Friday is upon me and the first week of December is gone and I’m feeling a little panicky inside because I am unprepared. I still have two (maybe three) more art events to get through, so I’m going to jump in to art news and at least get that info in blog world. Sorry it’s been a hot minute since I’ve posted. Thanks for not disappearing!

Art News:

In 1842 the first Christmas tree in Virginia was in Williamsburg and it was decorated with candles wired to branches, decorated it with popcorn, nuts, colored-paper decorations, and a gold star.

This Sunday, December 8, from 12-4pm, I will at Holiday Open House to sign coloring books and color the poster above with anyone who wishes to join me at Point Of Honor . POH is part of the Lynchburg Museum System. I’m excited about this new affiliation, because they are now carrying my Destination Lynchburg Coloring Books in the gift shop.

2. On December 14, 10-2pm at Mission House Coffee (the one on Commerce Street), I am coordinating an inaugural POP-Up Art Event. We currently have nine artists lined up (not bad for short notice-with so many other events happening)! Come drink coffee and browse the art! The artists booth fees are being donated to a charity of my choosing! I can’t say here yet, because I want to surprise my friend 🙂

I’ll be selling coloring books of course, but also my repurposed vintage jewelry/ belt bracelets

When Vintage Jewelry & gently used belts
come together they make unique bracelets for people
who like to make a statement

3. I am undecided about the third event. It is called a Monster Drawing Rally-from 6-9pm artists draw for one hour, you watch, work is displayed, all art goes for $50, half goes to RVA the Artspace downtown and to the artist. It is the same evening as the pop up, it is for dry media (which I don’t do a lot of), and you’re working live…whether I go or not you should definitely go support the artists and Riverviews. 4. Painting on the easel….Come back for my next post and an update of the current work on my easel.

Once again, we come to the Holiday Season, a deeply religious time that each of us observes, in his own way, by going to the mall of his choice. Dave Barry
