…hand painted ornaments

As Tuesday morning creeps into the light, revealing the damages of super storm Sandy, I am relieved to see that it is not as bad as it could have been here in Big Stone Gap.  It appears that we have been sheltered from the bulk of snow that has been dumped all around in higher elevations. Just up the road about 20 minutes in Wise the accumulations are around 7-10 inches. Here, our snow seems almost insignificant at 1 1/2 to 2 inches. The weight from the rain/snow has laden the trees and shrubbery with a white frosting that has bowed limbs and gives my view a wonderland appearance.  Unfortunately, heavy rain and snow damage causes many in the county to have been without electricity, and results in many school and office closings.  I am one of the fortunate people that do not have to try to find my way to work today.

I am not sure if I have written before (I probably have) about the twelve limited edition ornaments that I am composing for the studio along with the two other artists that I work with.  If so, please indulge me again.  As I have been considering something unique to my artistic style, I have come up with a couple of great options (thank you family for your help!) to design but I have been unable to narrow down beyond the TWO great ideas. One of which I am revealing today.

The ornaments are a set of twelve-hand painted mini canvases, to represent the 12 days of Christmas, and will be for sold as a set.  For those of you who might only be interested in a specific piece or two, I will be glad to create individuals. Since I will need time to paint, I am offering this preview of the almost finished set. This will provide you with a visual idea of my designs and request time. I look forward to creating a uniquely designed ornament just for you.

Stay tuned for the big reveal of our ornaments in November at the studio….

Please feel free to contact me with questions or requests.
