Inktober 2018 – Day 15 -Weak

I mean, who wants to think about weakness, right? I wrestled with this prompt for at least 25 hours. {yes, I started worrying yesterday}. I didn’t want to do something totally obvious or generic, but I did want to use the opportunity to express something valid and/or engaging.

Mental illness is gaining notice in the social media world and by doing so bringing about a lot of good discussions and focus on important diseases (yes, they are diseases) that have been literally locked away for decades.

Bout damn time…

I’ve dealt with seasonal depression my whole life. I don’t talk about it a lot, but I guess I’m putting it out there now, right?! ? I’m not taking away from this issue, but, I’d rather focus this post on the many who’s struggles are different/and more severe than mine. I’m going to wager anyone who reads this post either suffers from, or knows someone who does. If you are the sufferer, I hope today’s sketch will resonate with you. Or, if you know someone who suffers from a mental illness please-please reach out to them and let them know that you understand, you care and you’re there. Not just today, but consistently, because sometimes the simplest acts of kindness make the biggest difference. Especially for someone who’s having a rougher time than usual and maybe Feeling a little weak and weary.

Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered weak and weary.

~Edgar Allan Poe

Peace,

Valerie
