Why I Do What I Do…Sometimes

Recently, I was looking for an in between project. You know, the thing you need to do to clear the cob webs in between that thing you normally do. I’d taken up hand dyeing silk scarves a few years back, and decided to give them another go. Making hand Dyed silk scarves offer both a creative painting process and satisfy a tactile craving. I’ve researched more deeply about processing techniques. Using resists, dye, paint brushes and eco-dyeing. (Eco Dyeing is a topic worthy of its own post). I’m having a lot of fun and feeling a sense of creative renewal throughout this process.

Eco & Hand Dyed Leaves scarf-available

All of my scarves begin with Habotai silk also known as China Silk, that is hand rolled and hemmed. Some scarves receive several layers of color and all are steam set for colorfastness.

My goal is to create scarves that become statement pieces, fusing art with fashion. I’m currently accepting commissions. Please allow 3-5 days to create a special order. I am also developing some designs that are non-commissioned and available for purchase. Each piece is one of a kind.
